DOCUMENT ORGANISATION GUIDE

How to organise personal and work documents

Important documents are easier to act on when the file, the question you have about it and any supporting evidence stay together. That applies whether the record is personal, freelance or business-related.

01

Organise by task, not just file type

Instead of keeping every PDF in one folder, group the files around the thing you need to do: review an agreement, prepare records, confirm a payment or collect supporting evidence.

02

Keep the original source

Preserve the original document and add notes or findings separately. This makes it easier to check a summary or extracted detail against the source later.

03

Add supporting evidence beside it

If a document depends on another record, keep them in the same Case. An agreement might need an earlier version; an invoice might need a delivery note; a personal filing record might need a receipt or statement.

04

Finish with a clear next action

Record what still needs clarification, who needs to respond or what needs to be downloaded. ClerkOps Documents keeps the source, findings and next step together.
